    COLUMBIA - Two mid-Missouri colleges came out on top in the NAIA men's soccer rankings on Monday.

    The Central Methodist Eagles remain at No. 1 while the Columbia Cougars sit at No. 2 on the eighth Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll of the season.

    KANSAS CITY - Central Methodist University and Columbia College hold the top two spots in the men's soccer top 25 poll.

    Central Methodist was ranked first with a season record of 16-1.

    ATLANTA -- The NCAA Board of Governors took the first step Tuesday toward allowing amateur athletes to cash in on their fame, voting unanimously to permit them to "benefit from the use of their name, image and likeness."

    The United States' largest governing body for college athletics realized that it "must embrace change to provide the best possible experience for college athletes," the board said in a news release issued after the vote at Emory University in Atlanta.

    COLUMBIA - Missouri volleyball sophomore, Andrea Fuentes, was named Week 9 SEC Overall Player of the Week, as well as Setter of the Week.

    In response to the recognition for Fuentes, interim volleyball head coach Joshua Taylor was quoted saying, "This is definitely another worthy honor for Andrea."

    ST. LOUIS - What seemed like a slight collision between Blues Vladimir Tarasenko and a Kings defenseman Thursday night has resulted in an injury to the key player for the Blues. 

    Tarasenko will be out for at least the next five months due to a left shoulder injury. These five months are the time given for re-evaluation, meaning that he can be out for even longer.

    COLLEGE STATION - Mizzou soccer lost its third straight in a high scoring affair with Texas A&M on Sunday.

    Mizzou got off to an early 1-0 lead, with Sarah Luebbert scoring less than three minutes into the game, but the Aggies turned the game around immediately.

    COLUMBIA - Mizzou volleyball swept Mississippi State on Sunday, pushing the winning streak to four.

    The Tigers came out of the gates on fire, winning the first set 25-19, and didn't look back.

    LEXINGTON- The Missouri Tigers football team falls for the second week in a row, losing 29-7 to the Kentucky Wildcats.

    Whether it was the torrential downpour of rain or the early hamstring injury to Kelly Bryant, the Tigers looked flat on both sides of the ball.

    It was the first time the two teams met since the Stanley Cup Final and the Bruins were hungry for revenge.
