    MEXICO. Mo - The Missouri Military Academy's football stadium experienced an unforeseen electrical problem causing a postponement to their football game against Highland on Friday. 

    According to a tweet by theLewis County C-1 School District, he varsity football game scheduled for Friday, September 4 has now been moved to Saturday, September 5 at noon.

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — On the night Patrick Mahomes received his Super Bowl ring, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback gave a ring away.

    Mahomes and his longtime girlfriend, Brittany Matthews, became engaged Tuesday, Sept. 1. The 24-year-old Mahomes, who won the MVP award by leading the Chiefs past the 49ers at the Super Bowl in February, began dating Matthews while they were attending Whitehouse High School in Texas. Mahomes was a sophomore and Matthews was a junior, and the couple remained together when they headed off to college.

    COLUMBIA - Despite Monday's Columbia Public Schools Board of Education vote to begin the school year with fully online classes, CPS will continue to play fall sports.

    The apparent contradiction in allowing in-person, contact sports but not allowing in-person, socially distanced classes has been recognized and discussed by CPS leaders.

    CHICAGO (AP) — Maikel Franco and Ryan McBroom homered during Kansas City’s five-run seventh, and the Royals cooled off the Chicago White Sox with a 9-6 victory.

    Ryan O’Hearn and Alex Gordon also went deep for Kansas City, which had dropped five of six — including consecutive 6-5 losses where the opponent won in its final at-bat. The last-place Royals finalized a trade during the win, sending reliever Trevor Rosenthal to San Diego for young outfielder Edward Olivares and a player to be named.

    ST. LOUIS (AP) — Tyler Naquin hit a go-ahead double in the 12th inning, then Yadier Molina made a baserunning blunder and got trapped for the final out to give the Cleveland Indians a 2-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals.

    A day after getting 20 hits in a rout, the Indians totaled just five in winning their fourth in a row. Naquin doubled off Alex Reyes to drive in pinch runner Mike Freeman, who started the inning at second base.  That was Cleveland’s only hit after the eighth inning. Molina was trapped in a rundown to complete a game-ending double play.

    Welcome to Week 1 of Friday Night Fever! Our game of the week has the Warrensburg Tigers travelling to Adkins Stadium for a game with the Capital City Cavaliers. Both teams are looking to start the season off strong with a win. 

    Elsewhere, Southern Boone looks to build off of last season as they take on the Staley Falcons from Kansas City. Southern Boone finished last year 8-3, losing a close one in the second round of playoffs.

    COLUMBIA -Missouri head football coach Eliah Drinkwitz expressed his disappointment about the Jacob Blake shooting on Wednesday following the NBA's boycott.

    Kenosha Wisconsin police officer Rusten Sheskey shot Blake in the back seven times on Sunday, leaving him paralyzed from the waist down.
