CPD investigates robbery on North Seventh Street
COLUMBIA- Columbia police responded to a report of a robbery around 11:45 p.m. Saturday in the 700 block of Seventh Street, according to a press release.
Police located a 55-year-old victim who had several cuts on his head and face upon arrival.
The victim said he was riding his moped on Seventh Street, and it died near Rogers Street. He began walking back to his residence but was then struck in the back of the head before being attacked by four or five Black males, according to the release.
The victim reported he heard a gunshot, but realized he had not been shot. He said the suspects took his wallet, which contained cash and several forms of identification.
Officers were able to locate evidence of a shell casing and blood in the area.
The suspects were last seen running on Seventh Street and heading eastbound on Rogers Street. No further descriptions are available at this time.
This is an ongoing investigation.
