Drive-through celebrations for Jefferson City elementary and middle school students
JEFFERSON CITY — Some elementary and middle schools in Jefferson City will be holding drive-through celebrations for students.
Belair Elementary celebrated the end of the school year with a drive-through style fifth-grade promotion on May 26. There will also be a summer send-off parade for all grades on May 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Lawson Elementary will be holding a fifth-grade drive-through promotion on May 27 from 8:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. The school will also be hosting a summer send-off celebration for all grades on May 28, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Thomas Jefferson Middle School will have a drive-through celebration for its eighth-graders on May 27, from 6 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Lewis & Clark Middle School is hosting a drive-by promotion on May 27, from 6 p.m. until 6:30 p.m.
Pioneer Trail Elementary staff will line the sidewalks of the drop off and bus lanes on May 28, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. to say goodbye to all students in a drive-by parade.
North Elementary is holding a summer send-off drive-through parade on May 28, from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Callysta Shepard is the oldest of six children and is celebrating her promotion from fifth grade at Pioneer Trail Elementary school. She said she is learning how to do fancy handwriting to make a sign for the parade.
“I’m kind of happy about it since I get to see my teachers and everything,” Shepard said. “But, I’m actually kind of sad at the same time because I never got to do it like I thought I would.”
Students are encouraged to remain in their cars and practice social distancing at the events.
