Gasconade River at Flood Stage in Osage County
OSAGE COUNTY- After days of raining throughout the week, the Gasconade River in Osage County has reached it's limit. The river has crept closer and closer to Highway 50 in the county, and has covered part of Highway D near Cooper Hill.
Jessica Hammock, Cooper Hill expressed her concern about the flooded river. She said her boyfriends mother went through this back in 2008 and her home was severely damaged. Hammock also said the waters seemed to be receeding but she worry that any more rain could cause it to rise again.
Tom Winkelmann was with his friends on a hunting trip when they noticed the flooded river and had to stop and take a look. Winkelmann said the flood was one of the worst he's seen in a while.
"'93 was the worst," said Winkelmann, "but I guess we'll wait and see."
Winkelmann pointed out the Gasconade River as well as the Missouri and MIssissippi are all high and more rain is on the way.
