Lane restrictions scheduled for road repair on Thornbrook Ridge, Dec. 11-22
COLUMBIA - The city plans to begin repairing base failures in the Thornbrook Subdivision beginning Dec. 11 at 8 a.m. The work will be done in two stages to avoid completely closing the road.
"There are subgrade failures on this section of Thornbrook Ridge that will require us to repair and replace a number of the road panels," Pavement Engineer Seth Nelson said in a press release.
Stage one of the work will close the westbound lane and entrance of Thornbrook Ridge from Scott Boulevard to Claybrook Court. The work is scheduled to be completed by 8 a.m. on Dec. 18.
Stage two of the work will close the eastbound lane and exit of Thornbrook Ridge from Claybrook Court to Scott Boulevard beginning Dec. 18 with work scheduled to be completed by 3 p.m. on Dec. 22.
“We would recommend everybody take Thornbrook Terrace to Thornbrook Parkway or visa versa when they’re traveling in the area,” engineering manager Richard Stone said.
Message boards are set up in this area. Motorists, pedestrians and nonmotorized transportation users are urged to exercise extreme caution in the work zone and to use the alternative routes.
The two stages are both dependent on the weather.
“Right now, the weather does look like it’s going to hold up to be able to perform that work but things change during the winter,” Stone said.
