Man sentenced to 12 years in prison on several charges, including domestic assault
CALLAWAY COUNTY - A Steedman man was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of domestic assault, tampering with a victim in a felony prosecution and felony stealing.
Rusty Rudd, 28, admitted to physically assaulting two women while he was in a relationship with them according to Christopher D. Wilson, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney.
Rudd admitted that he punched one female victim in the abdomen, threw her into a wall and choked her during an incident at the home the couple shared in March 2017. He also purposely attempted to dissuade the woman from testifying against him.
In a case against a second female victim, Rudd admitted he twisted her arm, slammed her into a refrigerator and the floor, punched her and scratched her during two incidents at the home the couple shared in June 2016. Again, Rudd admitted he attempted to dissuade the woman from testifying against him.
Additionally, Rudd admitted to stealing computers, electronic devices, a yard trimmer, chainsaw and other items from the woman's home in June 2016.
Rudd pleaded guilty as a prior and persistent felony offender based on his prior felony convictions for assault of a law enforcement officer (2009) and stealing a motor vehicle (2010) in Osage County.
Rudd must serve at least 10 years of his 12 year prison sentence.
