MU will celebrate homecoming with virtual events this year
COLUMBIA- The University of Missouri's 109th Homecoming will hold virtual events this year due to COVID-19 guidelines.
Missouri Football will play Vanderbilt on Oct. 17 during the homecoming game.
One new event is a Homecoming Parade 5K, in which alumni around the country will be encouraged to run, walk o wheel a 5K in their home communities.
Children will be invited to take part in a virtual coloring contest with homecoming-themed coloring pages and the decorating-inclined can participate in “pomping at home” (Pomping involves rolling tissue paper to create festive decorations).
The traditional blood drive will be held at satellite locations for people to go to.
MU will partner with the Food Bank for Central and Northeast Missouri for a canned food drive from noon to 6 p.m. on Oct. 9 at the Reynolds Alumni Center.
Students will still be able to decorate the downtown Columbia area, as well as participate in a virtual spirit rally.
