Patriots fan charged for incident with Chiefs' Hill
FOXBOROUGH - The fan who threw a beer at Kansas City Chiefs receiver Tyreek Hill Sunday night was charged with disorderly conduct and throwing an object at a sporting event Monday evening.
The incident happened after Hill scored a 75-yard, game-tying touchdown late in the fourth quarter against the New England Patriots.
After scoring, Hill ran through the endzone to a barrier where fans were standing. Many fans used obscene gestures towards Hill, but one man doused him with a beer.
The New England Patriots released a statement early Monday morning stating that they helped identify the perpetrator, banned him from the stadium, and passed his information on to the police. The Foxborough Police Department later announced the formal charges.
A spokesperson for the Foxborough Police Department stated that the Chiefs showed no intention to criminally prosecute the fan, but stadium security and the police decided to pursue it.
The Chiefs lost the game to the Patriots, 43-40.
