Wreath laying ceremony honored fallen Missouri veterans
COLUMBIA - MU students, faculty and military honored fallen Missouri student veterans in the annual wreath laying ceremony Monday.
The ceremony took place in the Memorial Union on campus.
Students read aloud the names of the fallen students as well as heard from distinguished military and speakers.
"It's a little bit celebration, a little bit memorial," President of the Missouri Student Veterans Association Zachary Ignotz said. "I like to think of it as a celebration."
Monday's wreath laying ceremony was followed by a "I support MU Veterans" photo and a reception in the MU Student Center.
The following Veterans Week events are as follows:
- Green zone Training with MRE and Student Veteran Panel from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the Memorial Union - November 12
- Thank you card making for veterans 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Triangle Space of MU Student Center - November 13
- Mizzou Veterans Week Banquet 6:30 p.m. (social hour) 7 p.m. (meal) in the Memorial Union - November 15 (banquet is by invitation only)
- Mizzou vs. Florida: Military Appreciation Football Game 11 a.m. Faurot Field - November 16
